Government PSA Threatens Russians With Gay Roommates If They Don't Vote

Who knew they cared so much?

For a country that doesn't seem to put much stock in democracy, Russia is really keen on high voter turnout at next month's presidential elections.

A new video urging Russians to head to the polls on March 18, imagines a dystopian future filled with inane new regulations: After deciding not to vote, a middle-aged man dreams he's drafted into the army, asked for handouts by his Communist son, and forced to limit how many times he can go to the bathroom.

He also imagines a law assigning Russian families to a “gay homestay” for a week.

“The law is the law,” the effeminite roommate tells him before biting into a banana.

Svetlana Galka, who plays the wife in the video, told Govorit Moskva radio station, “This is simply a humorous promo."
