Grace Jones, 67, schooled the children during an eye-popping performance during the Parklife Music Festival in Manchester, England on Sunday.
Embodying what Keith Haring loved most (“primitive and pop”), Jones paid homage to Haring’s 1984 work “Untitled (body painting)” in which Robert Mapplethorpe photographed Jones in head-to-toe body paint applied by Haring.
Recreating the body paint with the addition of a black corset, ornate yellow headdress, a grass skirt and pom-pom, Jones served up rhythmic opulence with her classics “Slave to the Rhythm” and “Nightclubbing” and also premiered a new song, “Shenanigans.”
Grace performed at the two-day festival alongside top acts including Disclosure, George Ezra, Mark Ronson and FKA Twigs.
Was there a satin trench and gold-plated feather skull mask as an outfit change? Why yes, there was.
