Grammy Awards 2011: Lady Gaga Got Hatched, Rihanna Burned Up, Babs Blew It Out

Cutest couple ever!!! Beyonce and Janelle Monae are Grammy BFFs.

Last night at the Grammys: Lady Gaga arrived in an egg, pranced onstage in a "Blonde Ambition" ponytail with dancers in rubbery hospital gowns and snagged the Best Pop Vocal, thanking Whitney Houston (who apparently she had in mind to sing "Born This Way" when she wrote it. HUH?).

Otherwise, Rihanna performed a lot, Barbra Streisand sang "Evergreen," and Justin Bieber danced with backup ninjas -- but was denied award gratification. And Lady Antebellum won everything with their song "Need You Know" (which I think of as "that song that I always hear playing at the grocey store on Lite radio").

After the jump check out the list of winners of select categories from the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. You can find the complete list of 2011 Grammy Award winners at the Grammys site, in case you want to know who won Best Hawaiian Music Album, etc.

Now, get into some more photos!

Cute couple #2? Willow and Auntie Gaga!

Lots more photos and commentary -- and Barbra Streisand, Rihanna, Cee Lo and such -- after the jump! And go to MTV.com for lots of video of Grammy performances and more!

And now... More nice images!

Lady Gaga arrived inside her orgasmatron, toted by some striking, fit handlers in the Spring 2045 Lululemon collection.

Gaga emerges from her egg onstage to start the big "Born This Way" number. Which was 'aiiiite. She sounded good and she and her dancers all danced fine, but no one died, there was no blood or the level of freaky weirdness that her eggy arrival seemed to promise. So, all in all a very nice job, but not one for the record books.

Lady Gaga won for Best Pop Vocal Album (Besting Bieber, Susan Boyle, Katy Perry & John Mayer) and took the opportunity don a completely fun rubbery armor outfit, complete with a bubble butt. Hurrah!

As she accepted the award, Gaga thanked Whitney Houston, noting that when she wrote "Born This Way," she imagined Whitney Houston singing it. Which is nice and all, but... Huh?

There was a hot performance by Bruno Mars, B.O.B. and Janelle Monae early in the broadcast, which showed off each young stars' energy, virtuoso vocals and dance skills, and gave Ms. Monae the opportunity to dive in the crowd for a big group grope. Why not?

Justin Bieber and Usher performed together, after sharing with the world the story how the meet four years ago in parking lot (don't worry, it's legit). Then they danced with Bieber's backup ninjas and Jaden Smith.

You like Usher's blue suede Rhythm Nation chauffeur suit? Somehow it reminded me of Liberace's boyfriend from this famous pic. But that's just my twisted gay head.

Cee Lo's "F*** You" performance outfit was my fave of the night. With all the muppets singing along with him onstage it was very "Avenue F U" -- or vintage Elton John on The Muppet Show. And yes, Gwyneth Paltrow joined him onstage and by many accounts performed exceedingly well. I thought she was fine, but a little wooden.

I didn't mean to forget the show-opening moment when Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) -- along with Yolanda Adams and Martina McBride -- all sang an Aretha Franklin tribute. Xtina was fine, and J-Hud just reminded us that she is looking bangin' these days!

There were a lot of "fire" motifs on stage all night, including during this hot Rihanna/Drake performance of "What's My Name." Rihanna -- in a bustier thingy made of red vines and with a bedazzled crotch -- seemed to really be having fun on this one, which was nice to see. She looked brilliant all night, in fact.

And yes! I looooved that Barbra Streisand wore a blousy, textured dress (that was a deep burgundy color and not just boring black or beige) and blew out her hair into some mad breezy ringlets for her "Evergreen" performance. And she seemed to be having fun. Also, did you catch her mouthing at the end of the song "... I was so nervous!" Cute.

Ummm, J-Lo onstage last night & RuPaul's Drag Racer Carmen Carrera... Separated at birth?

And those happy Canadians from Arcade Fire celebrate their apparently unexpected win of "Album of the Year" for The Suburbs, which Barbra Streisand & Kris Kristofferson presented to them. (Sadly, Babs didn't stick around to sing with their band for their show-closing number. Waaah waaaaaaaah.).
