Grandma Gives Trans Grandson’s Doll a Heartfelt Holiday Makeover

"He's trans, like me."

The greatest gifts really do come from the heart.

Gabe, a 22-year-old trans man in Kansas City, Missouri, tweeted on Christmas that his Raggedy Ann doll, which he had gotten as a kid from his grandmother, had undergone a touching transformation. The handmade doll originally had his birth name embroidered inside a heart on its chest.

"This Christmas my Grandmother borrowed it and gave it back," Gabe wrote, "now with pants, shorter hair, and my new name sewn in place. He's trans, like me."

Rocking a new sailor hat like a typical Raggedy Andy, the doll now had the words “I Love Gabe” embroidered across its heart.

Gabe also received other "name-based" gifts from his grandma, including an engraved pocketknife and a “sick” T-shirt reading “I’m Gabe Doing Gabe Things” that he's "never taking off."

The Christmas tweet about Gabe's gender-confirmed buddy has gone viral with almost 120,000 likes and more than 20,000 retweets at the time of this posting.
