We had a lot of fun a couple of months ago with fantasy casting for the character of Barry Allen (The Flash), who will be appearing on Season Two of Arrow, and a possible spin-off series.

Boy, were we wrong.

TV Line is reporting that the decision has been made, and while it's someone we're familiar with, it does comes as a surprise - Grant Gustin!

The 23-year-old former Glee Klaine-blocker Sebastian will appear in episodes 8 and 9 as a forensics scientist who arrives in town to investigate a series of robberies that "may have a connection to a tragedy in his past." He'll also appear in episode 20, which will act as a potential pilot for the spin-off. There's no word yet on how they will give Barry his superpowers.

So why Grant?

Though the show’s creatives had said a blonde actor “would be preferred,” ultimately they wanted “the best actor for the part” — and/or “someone who look good in red."
