Meet The Bakers In The 2016 "Great British Bake Off"

All hail Mary Berry.

The new series season of the immensely popular show, The Great British Bake Off (or The Great British Baking Show as it's known on this side of the pond) premieres next week in the U.K.

Last season's finale was the most watched show of the year with 15 million viewers, and the latest installment promises to be just as a popular.

Below meet this year's new crop of contestants as they vie to be crowned the U.K.'s Best Amateur Baker:

Michael, 20, this year's youngest baker. He is from London and is currently studying politics and economics.

Jane, 61, both her father and grandfather were bakers. It's in her blood!

Rav, 28, likes to be experimental and use unusual ingredients in his baking.

Benjamina, 23, started baking nine years ago at the age of 14.

Lee, 67, is a pastor and the oldest contestant this season.

Louise, 46, enjoys elaborate cake design.

Tom, 26, works for the Royal Society of Arts in London.

Val, 66, is a former schoolteacher and has been baking since she was 15.

Selasi, 30, originally from Ghana he now works in finance in London.

Andrew, 25, is an "aerospace engineer designing jet engines for Rolls-Royce." Fancy!

Candice, 37, is a school PE teacher.

There has also been some controversy even before the show's premiere. When the photos of the new bakers were released fans online called out how dated it was that the contestants were posing with "gendered icing," pink icing for girls and blue for boys:

Hopefully the icing was just used for the promo pics. Mary Berry would never allow such a mistake in the competition.

The new season of The Great British Bake Off premieres August 24 on BBC One in the U.K. but will hopefully make it's American debut soon.
