Since St. Patty’s Day is right around the corner, so I thought that it would be a good idea to hash out some of our favorite green things. The year is already off to a good start, and this holiday is the perfect excuse to honor the people who are making it “oh so blissful”. Our St. Patrick’s Day heroes entertain us on the big screen, keep our streets clean, and are the all around best at rocking there GREEN!
So bottoms up! Kick back with a mug of ale and enjoy 2011’s greenest.
Kelly Rutherford (Gossip Girl)
Gossip Girl’s Kelly Rutherford has another secret that GiGi forgot to blast. Rutherford insists on living a “Green” (eco-friendly) lifestyle. This larger than life actress’ philanthropic ideals would give her fictional character, Lily Vanderwoodsen, a run for her money. Rutherford is a long time environmentalist. Choosing organic snacks since her teens and trading in her range rover for a Prius are just the tip of the iceberg. Rutherford uses 7th Generation products in her home, and advocates the use of Energy
-Star approved lighting options (i.e. compact florescent bulbs). This star is adamant about reducing her carbon footprint, and removing toxins from day to day living. Kelly Rutherford is easily the greenest girl on the block.
Yoda
Whether you know him as the little-fuzzy-green Muppet-like creature that taught Luke Skywalker how to use the force or the master Jedi that kicked Darth Sidious’ backside up and down the screen in the ‘2005’ installment of the Star Wars saga, everybody loves Yoda. Every generation has gotten to appreciate Yoda in some way or another. Green skin, green eyes, and a green light saber make Yoda the ultimate on-screen green machine. Yoda is an honorary Irishman this St. Patrick’s Day for his green exterior and his “tough guy” interior – there is no messing with Yoda.
Edward Norton (The Hulk)
Norton is a Jack of all trades; he keeps our environment safe and keeps us greatly entertained. Good bless Edward Norton! The first Hulk movie that came out was horrible, but Norton took the role and remade the movie and I loved it. I am not sure whether it was his acting or his good looks, but it was impossible to look away from the screen. Norton is also a real life super hero; after he is done saving the world from the government’s sinister motives, he ventures over to Kenya to save the environment. Norton ran 26.2 miles in a New York marathon in to raise money to preserve the natural ecosystems of Kenya.
Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern)
Reynolds is greatly anticipated for his appearance as “Hal Jordon” in the 2011 film release of The Green Lantern. Its all about the adventures of a pilot who is granted mystical powers by a ring. He’s a superhero and he takes his shirt of a lot in the movie. Therefore, I will be going to see the movie. Watching Ryan Reynolds zip around the big screen in a tight green costume is at the top of my “to do list”; Oh and it will probably be a good movie. “In brightest day and darkest night…” Ryan Reynolds is a green dream!
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers is the 2011 Super bowl champion of the Green Bay Packers. He a green hero because: 1.) he is a Green Bay Packer 2.) He is the Superbowl XLV MVP. This young man is very deserving of our praise this St. Patrick’s day. He stepped out of Brett Favre’s shadow, and into the spotlight. He completed 24 of 39 passes for 304 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions, and did it against a good Steelers defense. This year Rodgers shined brightest on the world’s brightest athletic stage and is predicted to have a very long and very successful career.
