NYPD Used Grindr To Track Down Meth Dealer

Police arrested the dealer at his apartment last Thursday.

Harold Gonzalez Jr., 55, was arrested at 6:00 AM this past Thursday after police raided his Manhattan apartment and discovered a "large quantity" of methamphetamine and cocaine packaged for sale.

Police say they were initially tipped off about Gonzalez when one officer spotted the dealer on Grindr and recognized "coded language" being used as a "possible advertisement for drugs" in his bio.

The officer then arranged to buy half an ounce of methamphetamine off Gonzalez. He negotiated two additional sales, after which point police raided his apartment.

Following the raid, prosecutors charged Gonzalez with two counts of drug sales and two counts of drug possession. He was subsequently released without bail, but is due back in court September 14.
