Olympic freeskier Gus Kenworthy attended the ESPY Awards as a nominee in the Best Male Action Sports Athlete category last night, and walked the red carpet hand-in-hand with his boyfriend, actor Matthew Wilkas.

Both were in suits but managed to contrast their respective looks to the perfect degree — Matthew opted for a black, subtle plaid pattern with a grey knit tie while Gus donned a three-piece navy suit with a white collared shirt and colorful plaid bow tie. Both were sporting the top button.

Gus didn't pick up an ESPY but took to Facebook after the event to reiterate what an honor it was to be nominated.

"I didn't win the ESPY but I feel very honored to have even been nominated amongst so many iconic athletes," he said.

"I had an amazing evening and felt very proud walking the red carpet holding this guy's hand! ? Huge thank you to Brooks Brothers for outfitting us!!! ‪#‎ESPYS‬"

Gus became a viral sensation at the Sochi Olympics in 2014 but didn't come out publicly until October 2015, when he made the announcement on the cover of ESPN magazine.

Speaking to People last week about his life since the big reveal, Gus said: "What made me most happy about coming was getting messages from kids saying that my article made it easier for them to come to terms with themselves or for them to talk to their parents about being gay."
