Guy Fieri Just Officiated 101 Same-Sex Weddings In Florida

Chefs aren't necessarily known for making political statements, but that didn't stop a trio of celebrity chefs, including Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives' Guy Fieri, from hosting a mass same-sex wedding in Miami Beach on Saturday.

Art Smith, former personal chef to Oprah Winfrey, thought up the idea last month when Florida's ban on same-sex marriage was overturned. He decided on 101 couples in honor of Florida's "own Cruella De Vil," state attorney general Pam Bondi,  the out foodie told the Star Tribune.

"She was determined that she was going to prevent equality from coming to Florida. For a state known for sunshine, it was living in the darkness when it came to LGBT rights and it was important to acknowledge that."

Guy Fieri (no longer weirded out by gay people," apparently) officiated the mass ceremony while Ace of Cakes' Duff Goldman created a seven-tier wedding cake of gold and silver deliciousness, with drag goddess Chi Chi LaRue as DJ.

Congratulations to the 101 beautiful couples, and thanks to chefs Smith, Fieri, and Goldman for making such a bold statement.
