Happy Father's Day: Kids Talk Frankly With Their Dads About When They Came Out
In honor of Father's Day, Upworthy invited several dads to sit down for a frank conversation with their gay and lesbian children about when they knew they were gay, how they felt about it, and who they want them to end up with.
The segment doesn't dodge the tricky issues, but lets us see gays who have great, solid relationships with their dads. (What a concept!)
It also reinforces the idea that anyone can be a supportive parent, all you need is unconditional love.
And while its never easy coming out to a parent, we should remember they often know before we do: One papa revealed he knew his son was gay, "When you were 4 years old, with a sheet wrapped around you singing Ella Fitzgerald!"
Okay, that might be a tip-off.
