Hedwig, Stellar Musicians and Courageous Queer Teenagers

Follow My Voice comes out August 7th. Sleater Kinney is just one of 75 bands on the DVD.

Follow My Voice With The Music of Hedwig, a new documentary DVD, follows the making of Wig in a Box, a charity cover album of Hedwig songs. It also includes video diaries from several students at the Harvey Milk High School. So you get pretty much the most amazing, if hard to pin down genre-wise, DVD ever.

You get to revel in performances and interviews with musicians like Yoko Ono, Rufus Wainwright, The Polyphonic Spree, Cyndi Lauper, The Breeders, Yo La Tengo, Jonathan Richman, They Might Be Giants, Sleater Kinney, Fred Schneider, Frank Black and Spoon among many others. You get to live vicariously through kids that got to do what you always dreamed of – go to a gay high school. And experience their unique perspectives on gender and queerness. And you get to relive the magical magicness of Hedwig and The Angry Inch. The DVD comes out on August 7th and you can buy it here. When you get it, you might just want to watch a little bit at a time and savor it.
