Help This Chattanooga Couple Become A Family

November is National Adoption Awareness Month.

The holiday season is a time for being with family, but for many LGBT couples it can be a reminder of the struggles they face in trying to start a family of their own.

In the spirit of the holidays, and in honor of November being National Adoption Month, we're taking a moment to highlight the story of one Chattanooga couple hoping to become parents.

Adam Case & David Barlew, Jr. have a profile on iheartadoption.org, a website dedicated to building families through open adoption.

The men wrote descriptions of themselves and their relationship on the site in the hopes that an expectant mother will pick them to adopt her baby.

When describing their love for one another, the couple wrote:

"We both grew up in Tennessee and met in college in 2003. We fell in love instantly and have been inseparable ever since. Some of our earliest conversations were about our long-term plans, and we both knew then that having children was a common dream. We moved to Chattanooga after college and were legally married in 2008. David is a self-employed architect and has the ability to work from home and set his own schedule. Adam works as a property manager for a large bank and also has workplace flexibility.

Our commitment to one another and our future has been a priority since day one. Whether we are making up silly songs or tending to our flowers, we always enjoy each other’s company. We operate as a team and do everything together from grocery shopping to carpooling. We plan to approach parenthood the same way."

The guys took to their Facebook page to share their Thanksgiving dream of having a baby.

"Holidays are so much more fun with little ones around. Hopefully this time next year we will have a little gobbler of our very own! Thanksgiving is a time of remembering to stop and reflect on all of life's blessings -- even those you haven't received yet."
