Vincent Franklin On His "Cucumber" Character: "Henry Takes The Simplest Situation And Makes It Complicated"

We sat down with actor Vincent Franklin to discuss the new Logo TV show, Cucumber, in which he plays Henry Best, a financially successful gay man growing apart from his long-term partner, and his life in general, as he enters middle age.

Unsatisfied with his life, 46-year-old Henry moves out of his comfortable home and into a giant warehouse filled with struggling twentysomethings. But Henry is just externalizing his unhappiness, says Franklin, blaming it on his boyfriends, or the friends around him, rather than looking at his deep-rooted self-hatred, and the discomfort he feels being in a relationship with another man.

"Henry's really complicated," says the actor. "Henry takes the simplest situation and makes it complicated. He has a little scratch and he picks at it."

Catch the premiere of Cucumber on Monday, April 13, at 10pm on Logo TV.
