I couldn't be more cynical about sappy tear-jerking love-story movies, but god damn if I won't be paying $16.50 (yes, I live in New York) to see Julianne Moore crying for two hours. And that's basically what the trailer for the upcoming lesbian drama, Freeheld, looks like.

Freeheld tells the true story of a lesbian police officer with terminal cancer fighting to get her partner access to her pension benefits in a pre-marriage equality America. The story is both emotionally gut-wrenching and historically significant (and will therefore win every Oscar ever). Based on the documentary of the same title, directed by Peter Sollett (Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist), and written by Ron Nyswaner (Philidelphia). The film also stars Michael Shannon and Steve Carrell.
