High School Senior Comes Out In Amazing Yearbook Quote

A graduating senior at Raritan High School in Hazlet, New Jersey, wanted to make a statement as he bid farewell to his classmates. Why not do it with the gayest yearbook quote imaginable?

“Of course I dress well,” wrote Maxwell Barrett, “I didn’t spend all that time in the closet for nothing.”

Barrett told the Huffington Post. “”I had never done sports, or clubs. I was always just an art student. I wanted to go out in a way people would remember me by!”

We’ll always remember it.

He was already out to most of his friends and classmates, but not his parents. They know now, though: the yearbook picture has been shared more than 100,000 times on Tumblr.

And to think, it almost didn’t get included: Barrett claims that the teacher in charge of the yearbook wanted to remove the quote, claiming it was done just for “shock value.” But after his peers petitioned the principal, the school determined the hilarious quote could stay.
