High Schoolers Reverse Administrators' Ban On Student-Written LGBT Play

Students at Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, Colorado just won the right to perform the student-written, LGBT themed production Evolution

Originally, administrators at the school reportedly cancelled the show because of "uncomfortable" content, specifically homosexuality and transgender issues.

Students spoke out against the decision by contacting local media and creating a Facebook page to protest.

Administrators met with the students and eventually agreed to allow the show to continue, uncut and uncensored, at its original premiere date.

The National Coalition Against Censorship praised the students for the steps they took, saying they advise students to "organize on Facebook and Twitter, mobilize other students and alert the local press. The students in Aurora did all of these things–and their clear, concise messages helped shape the story and affect the outcome."
