Hillary Clinton gave her formal concession speech to Donald Trump this morning after being defeated in an upset in last night’s presidential election.
“Thank you, my friends, thank you so very much for being here,” she said to her supporters as she wiped a tear from her eye. “I love you all too.”
“Last night I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country,” she continued. “I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans.”

She added that she respects the peaceful transition of power and urged her supporters to accept that Trump will be the next president.
“We owe him an open mind and a chance to lead,” Clinton told the crowd.
The Democratic nominee then addressed her female supporters who thought she would make history by being elected the first female president.
“To all the women and especially the young women who put their faith in this campaign and in me, I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion,” she said. “Now, I know, I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but some day, someone will.”
The speech was streamed live on ABC News, and you can watch below.
