Last year after the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton took in a lot of theater in New York, as she attended shows like Sunset Blvd., and Come From Away, where she received standing ovations for just being out in public instead of the Oval Office.
Bette Midler recently returned to role of Dolly Levi in the smash hit musical Hello, Dolly on Broadway, taking over for Bernadette Peters, who replaced Midler when she originally left the revival. Midler will remain with the show through the remainder of its run, which ends on August 25, and Clinton decided to see her before she left the role for good.
Clinton arrived at her seat for the July 26 performance, and thanks to someone posting a video to Twitter we know that the audience reacted with a applause, chants, and a standing ovation for the former presidential candidate.

Even Midler, herself, tweeted how seeing Clinton made the entire cast “unbelievably happy”:
#HILLARYCLINTON CAME TO #“HELLODOLLY TONIGHT!! What a thrill! The crowd stood, clapped and chanted her name until the lights went down. It made us all unbelievably happy to see her…

We can only imagine what would happen if Clinton went to see The Boys in the Band…
