Watch Jane Fonda And Gloria Steinem Sing "Happy Birthday" To Hillary Clinton
Yesterday, Hillary Clinton spent her 70th birthday at the Women's Media Awards in New York as she accepted the Women's Media Center's first Wonder Woman award.
Women's Media Center co-founders Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem were on-hand at the ceremony to present Clinton with the award, with Fonda introducing Clinton by honoring her for all of the years she has fought for women and children's rights.
“She has accomplished so much, all in the face of extremely toxic masculinity. She gets down, but she bounces right back, and that’s never been more true than right now when the person least qualified in history to be president of the United States is president,” Fonda told the audience.
The former presidential candidate started off her speech by saying how being at the Women's Media Awards was a "great way" to celebrate her birthday.
"I can’t imagine any better place to be with better company than all of you, and I just have to tell you how really touched and honored I am," she continued.
At the end of the event, Pat Mitchell, the Women's Media Center's chair, delivered a champagne toast honoring Clinton:
"We wish you the happiness you deserve, and above all the respect, admiration, and the deep gratitude you have earned," Mitchell said as Fonda, Steinem and Clinton all raised their glasses onstage.
The audience cheered and began singing "Happy Birthday" to Clinton, with Fonda, Steinem and Mitchell joining in.
This might be the first time a crowd singing "Happy Birthday" has brought a tear to our eye. Watch the lovely moment below.
