Thought you'd seen the last of Salem's Sanderson sisters? Think again. According to Variety, a sequel to Disney's 1993 film Hocus Pocus is officially in development.

The original movie—a fantasy-comedy about a teen boy who accidentally resurrects a trio of witch sisters who were cursed and hanged in the 1600s—famously starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the sisters Sanderson.

Though it wasn't a box office success by any means when it first premiered, Hocus Pocus has endured as a campy, Halloween-y cult classic. (Is that because Midler put a spell on us gays? Hard to say!)

As Variety notes, the sequel is in development for Disney Plus, the media and entertainment mega-brand's bespoke streaming service. Jen D’Angelo (Workaholics, LA to Vegas) is on board to write and co-produce.

This isn't the first time rumbles of a Hocus Pocus Part Two have stirred the pot cauldron. Back in 2018, NewNowNext had reported on Disney Channel looking to develop a TV movie picking up where the original film left off—and possibly featuring a lesbian storyline. However, Disney Plus' sequel-in-the-works appears to be a separate project.

Are any of the OG cast members slated to reprise their roles? TBD on that one: While Midler, Parker, and Najimy aren't involved in the sequel yet, Disney is reportedly hopeful that they'll show interest in reuniting the iconic trio.
