How A Drag Queen Inspired Sia's Unbelievable Coachella Costume Reveal

This must be seen to be believed.

In 2008, drag performer Nina West wore one of the most inventive and eye-catching ensembles we've ever seen at the Entertainer of the Year competition. Since she snatched the crown, video of her big reveal has gone viral. (The YouTube video below has nearly 100,000 views alone.)

Eight years later, Nina's look is still making an impact—in fact it inspired Sia's outfit when she performed at Coachella on Sunday.

“I am over the moon," West said in a statement on Moovz.

"Sia is not only an artist and musician that I love and adore and have performed many times over the year, but as an activist, she has raised her voice for so many things that are so important to so many of us... LGBTQIA issues, animal rights, women’s rights and beyond. To even be acknowledged…I am speechless."

The "Chandelier" singer was so thankful for West's inspiration, she even invited her to the show.

We don't know if Nina made it, but by all accounts Sia was the hit of the festival, making her first full concert appearance since 2011. The 13-song set incorporated Kristen Wiig, Paul Dano and her muse, Maddie Ziegler, and performances of "Alive," "Elastic Heart," and "Diamonds," which she originally wrote for Rihanna.
