How "Will & Grace" Will Pay Loving Tribute To Debbie Reynolds
We're still mourning the death of Debbie Reynolds, but Will & Grace will bid fond farewell to the legendary performer in the show's March 29 episode. Grace and her sisters (Sara Rue and Mary McCormack) get together with their dad (Robert Klein) to celebrate Bobbi Adler's birthday. With their mom's passing, Grace's sisters want their dad sell the family home—but she's determined to keep the memories alive.
Reynolds, who died just a day after daughter Carrie Fisher in December 2016, appeared on Will & Grace more than a dozen times.
“Working with Debbie was really incredible," Messing said at a Paley Center panel on Saturday. "She would come on stage and she was a broad in the greatest sense. She always was entertaining and singing and dancing, and then she was running off and doing a one-woman show, you know, 300 days of the year. It was just crazy,”
Messing added that she really bonded with the Singin' in the Rain after the birth of her son, Roman.
“She and I would sit together and we would talk about being mothers—because I was a new mother—and she would talk about Carrie, and we would talk about the challenges of being a working mom.She really became someone very, very, very special in my heart, and I really wanted us to honor her."
Without giving away too much, Messing said the episode, "honors her—it’s funny and it’s moving.”
Speaking of legendary guest stars, Messing hinted at another iconic lady she'd like to appear on Will & Grace “I want Barbra Streisand to come and play Grace’s aunt," she told EW. "I like the idea of her being Debbie Reynolds’ sister."
