It's A Battle Between Brothels In Hulu's New Drama "Harlots"

Pleasure has a price.

They say prostitution is the oldest profession in the world, and Hulu is exploring that idea by taking us inside the world of 18th-century brothels in its new drama, Harlots.

The series, which promises a "whore's eye view" of the sex-work industry in Georgian London, will be told entirely from a female point of view.

Harlots will star Samantha Morton as a madam who will stop at nothing until she has the most successful brothel in town. Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay plays Morton's daughter, an in-demand courtesan named Charlotte, and Eloise Smyth will portray Charlotte's younger sister who is reluctant to join the family business.

The women are pitted against a rival brothel looking to undermine Morton's business by luring in clients with a more polished set of prostitutes.

Women are in charge behind the scenes of the project too, with Alison Owen and Debra Hayward executive producing the project, written by Moira Buffini.

Watch the trailer to prepare for Harlots' Hulu debut on March 29.
