Hurts Tackles Anti-LGBT Violence In Heartbreaking “Beautiful Ones” Video

The British pop duo celebrates individuality and gender-fluidity.

Hurts has released a powerful new video for their latest single, “Beautiful Ones.”

A popular British synth-pop duo consisting of Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, Hurts describes the song on YouTube as a “celebration of individuality,” adding that the accompanying video explores “hate, love, brutality and beauty.”

Lead singer Hutchcraft also appears in the clip, which unfolds in reverse, as a gender-fluid clubgoer who is stripped and brutally assaulted by three men. In a twist, it’s revealed that one of these men had been rejected by the victim earlier in the night.

As seen in the video’s unsettling opening moments, Hutchcraft’s battered character ultimately seeks revenge on those assailants.
