Hear the Pride Anthem “I Am What I Am” Like You Never Have Before

"I bang my own drum, some think it's noise, I think it's pretty..."

"I Am What I Am" is the definition of a gay Pride power anthem. Whether you know it from the Broadway musical La Cage aux Folles, the Gloria Gaynor version or discovered it through the Queer as Folk soundtrack, the song is 35 years old and the lyrics still resonate today.

Even if you have heard "I Am What I Am" thousands of times you have never heard it this way. Logo recently released Logo30, a powerful series profiling ordinary and extraordinary people who show pride in unique and provocative ways. While filming Logo30 interviews with celebrities like Trace Lysette and Wilson Cruz, along with activists including Moises Serrano and Blair Imani, they were asked to recite the lyrics to the classic Pride anthem.

Watch the video below to hear "I Am What I Am" in a new, inspiring way that will have you feeling prideful long after Pride Month is over.
