I Watched Hallmark Arbor Day Movies So You Don't Have To

When I watched Hallmark Christmas movies so you don't have to, I didn't realize it would be the beginning of a journey that continued when I watched Hallmark Valentine movies so you don't have to. I found myself hooked, so it was a crushing blow when Presidents Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter all passed without a Hallmark week-long observance.

My return to Hallmark Channel normalcy has been a slow process, helped by two hour blocks of The Middle and 4 AM binges of Cheers (the Diane years), but just when I was settling back into the groove, they've done it again. They've cleared the schedule to make room for another week of Holiday movies, pulling me back into their addictive marathon. So the journey continues as ...

I Watched Hallmark Arbor Day Movies So You Don't Have To.

As I did with Christmas and Valentine's day, I chose five films at random based only on their titles, without knowing anything about the plots or casts. Here are the results.

First up ...

LOGGED OUT

Candace Cameron Bure stars as a ball busting executive who doesn't have time for a social life, who is assigned to facilitate the acquisition and strip mining of a small town to make way for a major logging site. When she arrives she has to deal with the anger of the town's population, spotty cell service, and the interference of a shirtless environmentalist (played by Dylan Bruce).

Their initial hostility soon gives way to a mutual respect, as Candace is forced to live off the grid, and open her eyes to the natural beauty of her surroundings. She's helped on this journey by Dylan, who takes her hand and teaches her the ways of the forest, and she soon abandons her career goals for her proper place ... living in a hollowed out tree.

This is a beautifully realized story with a wonderful message that will stay with me forever.

On a scale of one to five Katherine Hepburn Being Asked What Kind Of Tree She Would Be, it gets a full five.

THE BEAVER WHISPERER

Candace Cameron Bure stars as a ball busting executive who doesn't have time for a social life, who is assigned to investigate when the strip mining of a small town is interrupted by acts of sabotage. She soon discovers the culprits ... a family of beavers who are fighting back against the destruction of their habitat.

She reluctantly enlists the aid of The Beaver Whisperer (played by Shawn Roberts), and their initial hostility soon turns to mutual respect, and then something more, as Shawn teaches her the way of the beaver, and she soon abandons her career goals for her proper place ... living in a hollowed out tree

This is a beautifully realized albeit familiar story that will stay me for ... quite a while

On a scale of one to five Katherine Hepburn Being Asked What Kind Of Tree She Would Be, it gets a solid four.

Lumberjill

Candace Cameron Bure stars as a ball busting lumberjack who doesn't have time for a social life, who tangles with an executive (played by Ryan McPartlin) brought in to facilitate the acquisition and strip mining of her small town. Their initial hostility soon gives way to a mutual respect, and then something more, as Ryan takes her hand and teaches her the ways of Instagram and Snapchat, and she soon abandons her career goals for her proper place ... living in a hollowed out tree.

This is a beautifully realized but somewhat derivative story that will stay with me for ... days

On a scale of one to five Katherine Hepburn Being Asked What Kind Of Tree She Would Be, it gets ... three.

Okay, I lied. I couldn't make it through all five films. They all just seemed to ... blend together, but that was probably just me. But if you happen to have seen these, please let me know what you thought of them!

Oh! Christmas Tree!
