"Is That for Gays?" Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen on Tinder vs. Grindr

Dame Helen and Sir Ian have some very classy thoughts on dating apps.

Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Helen Mirren, acclaimed thespians and the gay-and-a-lady BFF dynamic to which we all aspire, were recently asked about their feelings on Tinder and Grindr. Their responses were, as with nearly everything that comes out of their mouths, a goddamn delight.

The two veteran actors star in The Good Liar about a con artist (Sir McKellen) who meets a wealthy widow (Dame Mirren) on a dating app. McKellen said that "some people might be shocked" that "two people of a certain age" might meet online, "but actually, all the good relationships between my friends have happened because they did meet on the internet.”

A reporter for On Demand Entertainment then asked if Tinder would've been useful in the '60s.

"Yes," Mirren said, "I think it's fantastic." Sir Ian, however, was a bit confused between Tinder and Grindr.

"Is that for gays?" Sir Ian asked, to which Dame Helen, without missing a beat, explained that Grindr is indeed for the gays, and is a bit more "erotic."

Leave it to Dame Helen Mirren to make hooking up sound classy AF. Check out their full interview below.
