Friends of a 32-year-old transgender Idaho woman who died suddenly at work last month say they were disgusted by her funeral services, which apparently presented her as male with no mention that she had transitioned years before.

Friends of Jennifer Gable say she died of an aneurysm while working at her job as a Wells Fargo customer service coordinator on October 9. They describe her living as a full-time female, which is why they were shocked to see her laid in an open casket as a male with short hair wearing a suit.

"I am disgusted," a friend of Gable's wrote on Facebook. "How can they bury her as Geoff when she legally changed her name. So very sad. Jen you will be missed and people who know you know that you are at peace."

Gable's friends told the Miami Herald that "her father erased her identity either through ignorance or arrogance," adding that no mention of her transition was made in her official paid obituary either.

"No mention of the woman she knew she was and had lived as for several years," online friend and HRC board member Meghan Stabler said. "Just erosion of her identity and an old photograph of how the father perceived her to be."

Though funeral directors at the Magic Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Twin Falls were aware that Jennifer was living as female, they were virtually powerless to present her as such against her father's wishes.

"The death certificate says Geoffrey AKA Jennifer Gable," said Mike Park of Magic Valley. "The last few years she lived as Jennifer. They buried him as Geoff. A tormented situation for all those involved."
