Niecy Nash, Nail Salons, And Bisexual Crime Bosses On TNT "Claws"
TNT is digging into the wicked world of manicures with its new midnight-dark black comedy Claws, starring Niecy Nash as the owner of a nail salon in Central Florida. Nash plays Desna, a money launderer turned entrepreneur and owner of the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon.
Her staff includes BFF and ex-party girl Jennifer (Jenn Lyon); Quiet Ann (Scrubs' Judy Reyes), Desna's uber-butch driver and the salon's security; Polly (True Blood's Carrie Preston), a mild-mannered parolee who served time for identity theft; and Virginia (Karrueche Tran), who can barely hide her impatience with her job.
But it's more than just French tips and and silk wraps going on: Desna is also the primary caregiver for her mentally ill brother Dean ( Lost's Harold Perrineau), and lets gangster redneck Roller (Jack Kesy) uses her salon to launder profits from his barely legal pain clinic. And then there's Uncle Daddy (Breaking Bad's Dean Norris), described as "a dangerous Dixie Mafia crime boss who is deeply Catholic and actively bisexual."
Executive produced by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, Claws premieres Sunday, June 11, at 9/8c.
