Indiana Woman Killed After Blackmailing Closeted Gay Men

“If I die, let them people know they killed me.”

A woman was murdered this week in Indianapolis shortly after attempting to extort money from two closeted gay men.

Jane Waughfield, 40, was found dead Tuesday morning following a shooting and subsequent car crash, WISH-TV reports.

Witnesses say Waughfield's yellow Camaro was speeding before slamming into another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle then found Waughfield unresponsive in her car with a gunshot wound; police believe the victim had been shot before the crash.

While investigators have not confirmed a motive for what they say was a targeted shooting, Waughfield had posted a Facebook Live video on Monday saying she had discovered two men having sex at one of their homes. In the video, which is filled with homophobic insults, Waughfield boasted that she offered to keep their sexuality a secret if they sent her $5,000 through a mobile payment service.

Waughfield also claimed that she feared for her life. “They tried to kill me, they chased me out of the house,” she said during the livestream. “If I die, let them people know they killed me.”

No arrests have been made at this time.
