"Into The Woods" Finally Reveals Johnny Depp's Big, Bad Wolf: PHOTOS

When Disney released its first teaser trailer for Into the Woods, all we got of Johnny Depp as the Big Bad Wolf was a quick glimpse of a furry paw. Now Entertainment Weekly is featuring four Into the Woods covers this week, including one with a full view of Depp as the fairy-tale baddie, side-by-side with Lilla Crawford's Little Red Riding Hood.

Fans are eating it up like little piggies, but some critics complain he looks like a 1930s gangster rather than a vaguely medieval villain. Vanity Fair pointed out his similarity to Tex Avery's version of the Wolf from the classic Warner Bros cartoons. We also see Disney's Big Bad Wolf Daddy, and even a little MC Skat Kat.

The other characters featured in the magazine's holiday movie preview seem more in line with the musical's Once Upon a Time vibe—including Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Chris Pine as her Prince, James Corden as the Baker, Emily Blunt as the Baker's Wife, Mackenzie Mauzy as Rapunzel, and Meryl Streep as a more glamorous version of the Witch than we saw in earlier promos.

Into the Woods opens Christmas Day.
