Artist Neil DaCosta Explores Religious Gay Sex With "The Book Of Mormon Missionary Positions"

The Book of Mormon Missionary Positions," from artist Neil DaCosta and art director Sara Phillips, aims to draw attention to the Mormon Church's hangups about homosexuality and sex in general.

The online gallery opens with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' view on chastity:

Sexual relations are proper only between a man and a woman who are legally and lawfully wedded as husband and wife. Any other sexual relations, including those between persons of the same gender, are sinful and undermine the divinely created institution of the family. The Church accordingly affirms defining marriage as the legal and lawful union between a man and a woman.

From there, Elder Kimball and Elder Searcy try an array of sexual positions, including Congress of Crow, Pounding the Spot, and Fitter In.

Despite the blasphemous nature of his work, DeCosta revealed reaction to it has been mainly positive since he debuted the series in 2013. "The institutionalized views of past generations don’t represent our current generation's beliefs," he says, adding "We have a long way to go still, but at least things are changing for the better."
