Investigators Looking To Charge Caitlyn Jenner With Manslaughter For Fatal Crash

"We did determine... that Jenner was going at an unsafe speed for the prevailing conditions."

Authorities who investigated a deadly car accident involving Caitlyn Jenner have brought misdemeanor manslaughter charges to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department said Thursday.

"Jenner's case is going to go to the district attorney next week to see if it is worthy of a misdemeanor violation for involuntary manslaughter," explained Det. Richard Curry.

Jenner was driving a black Cadillac SUV in early February when she was involved in a multiple car collision on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Kimberly Howe, 69, was driving a Lexus when Jenner hit her car from behind, sending it into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by another vehicle.

Howe died at the scene.

"We did determine in the investigation that Jenner was going at an unsafe speed for the prevailing conditions, even though [she] was traveling under the posted speed limit," stated Curry.

After the accident, Jenner released a statement saying her "heartfelt and deepest sympathies" were with the Howe's loved ones. "It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time," she said. "I am praying for them."

Two of Howe's children and the driver of another car involved in the collision are currently suing Jenner.

If convicted of misdemeanor manslaughter, Jenner could face up to a year in prison.
