Is It Hard To Be LGBT In Japan?

People at Tokyo Pride try to answer this question in new interview footage.

A Japanese man created a YouTube video that takes a deeper look at what it means to be LGBT in his country.

Attending Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2015, he listened to members of the community share their thoughts and stories.

One man attributed the acceptance issues they're currently facing to a lack of visibility.

"There's a lack of awareness that LGBT people exist normally," he says. "Not all the people understand that LGBT people are right next to them."

Two young lesbians said they felt everyone would be understanding about their sexuality except their own families.

One shared that her parents may be accepting to gay people they meet, but if they found out it was their own child that was gay, it wouldn't go over as well.

Watch the revealing interview below to find out what it feels like to be an LGBT person in a different part of the world.
