Isetan is one of Tokyo’s leading, most fabulous department stores, and this flagship store in Shinjuku (with its own vast Men’s Store attached) is one of the best. There are 7 floors of fashion and housewares, the amazing food hall in the basement, and the rooftop garden sometimes becomes a beer garden in the summer and hosts special events.
The store staff are helpful, and will likely speak a bit of English. And yes, the aforementioned Men’s Store is a great retail haven for gay men. All of the major international designers are featured, including quite a few Japanese designers you may not find back home.
