Jack Mackenroth may be known by most for his time on Project Runway, but the model and entrepreneur is doing a 180 from the fashion world with his newest project, Volttage.com.
A social networking site for the HIV-positive community, Volttage.com will offer gay men living with HIV a place to develop and foster friendships and relationships with other members, while also learning about HIV/AIDS, medical advances and other relevant, up-to-date health and lifestyle information. Similarly to other sites, Volttage.com also offers the possibility for romantic encounters.
“Sex sells,” Mackenroth explains. “But we are much more than a hookup site. We provide an alternative for HIV+ men who often feel stigmatized and discriminated against on the other sites. As the site develops and grows, we will incorporate features like forums and blogs that will strengthen a sense of community and acceptance.”
The site allows members to create free profiles and does not require that they disclose their status, though it is clear that the site is for HIV+ men and their supporters.
We recently got Mackenroth to take some time out of his busy schedule to answer our nine questions.
1. Movie line you use, possibly too much.
“I like the hole and the pole”- Strangers With Candy
2. Church of Scientology or Church of Latter Day Saints?
