Jack "Sexy Halloween Costume" Merridew Has A Message For His (Mostly Gay) Haters

The gay man who went viral trying on Halloween costumes for his mother is calling out the 'real' gay problem.

Jack Merridew, the vlogger who went viral last month with a video of his mother adorably rating his selection of sexy Halloween costumes, is responding to his critics.

The video quickly racked up over 400,000 views and became the fourth most-viewed video in his channel's history — an achievement that also attracted droves of haters and self-righteous commenters who attacked him for having a thin body and being a "harmful gay stereotype."

As Merridew notes in his response, many of his most viscous critics were — unsurprisingly — other gay men. The most vitriolic, as we also routinely notice, tend to be people who either A) remain anonymous behind profile pictures of actresses from the 1950s or B) are guilty of the crimes against gay culture they purport to loathe.

“All the hate on this Halloween costume video came from gay men, and it was weird," he said. "Come on, gay men. We’re supposed to be brothers. We’re a big fucking family. And you can’t choose your family, so I’m that brother that you want to get rid of, but you know what? You’re fucking stuck with me."

"Every part of my body was being attacked," Jack says while chomping into a juicy Burger King burger. "Nothing was safe, from my ass to my eyebrows to my 'fucked up nose.' I got so many comments about how 'skinny' I am, about my body type...My mom was getting hated on too!”

Enough!

He says he won't let the hate get to him because, after all, your haters are your biggest fans, right? So he leaves the community with one simple message.

Said Merridew:

“Please, please, please do not become the type of gay man who comments crap like this on other people’s videos, Facebook, news articles. You guys know that I love the LGBT community but I don’t accept all the bullshit that goes along with it.

Don’t be the type of gay guy who’s bitter. Don’t become the type of gay guy who puts down other people. Acceptance is universal…don’t fight for your acceptance but not somebody else’s. Don’t bitch at religious people for judging you for being gay when you judge other gay men for what they wear.

Love one another, be nice to one another, help each other out. And let’s, as a community, attack Kim motherfucking Davis, and not small little twinkie boys who want to dress like sluts for Halloween, OK?"
