9-Year-Old Commits Suicide After Being Bullied By Classmates

A tragic loss.

Jackson Grubb, a third grader from West Virginia, hanged himself in his home after enduring months of bullying from his classmates.

According to relatives, Jackson’s body was discovered Saturday by his sister who was entering his room to try and cheer him up with a frog she’d found outside.

“I miss my baby brother,” she wrote on Facebook. “I wish he was here today. Fly high brother we miss you so so much…and we all love you…Stop the bullying now!”

Jackson’s grandmother and guardian, Betsy Baber, also took to Facebook to express her grief: “I’m not sure what to say but I lost my boy this afternoon and I’m crushed. I will miss him so very much, my Action Jackson! Please keep us in your prayers, I need all the prayers I can get and his brothers and sisters are needing your prayers.”

She later confirmed to a local NBC affiliate that Jackson was being bullied for being small and that his demeanor had changed in the last few months.

“He didn’t want to look little. These kids need to know that there’s nothing wrong with being little,” Baber said. “It’s being able to tell these kids that they’re being mean. And it needs to stop.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the costs of Jackson’s funeral.
