Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto both lost a ton of weight for their roles in Dallas Buyers Club and are both looking at likely Oscar noms, and now it seems like Jake Gyllenhaal is trying to see if some rapid weight loss can do the same for him. Attending last night's Hollywood Film Awards, where he picked up the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his role in Prisoners, Jakey was looking downright gaunt, and very, very scary.

The drastic drop in pounds seems to be for Mr. Gyllenhaal's role in the upcoming film Nightcrawler, which, according to IMDB, is about a young man who "stumbles upon the underground world of L.A. freelance crime journalism."  No idea why that requires the dude to get so thin, but Mr. Gyllenhaal is spooking us out.
