James Franco has a new gay movie coming out (not that he actually seems to make any other kind) this November, about the life of gay actor Sal Mineo called Sal. Mineo shot to fame after his Oscar-nominated role as sensitive sidekick Plato in Rebel Without a Cause, but after coming out in the sixties, saw his career quickly go down the tubes. In 1976, at the age of 37, he was murdered.
So this is not really a good date movie.
The film, whose trailer was just released today, is written and directed by Franco, stars Val Lauren as Mineo and, of course, Franco in a small role.
Check out the trailer above and tell us what you think. We’re a bit unsure how we feel about this one.
