James Van Der Beek: "I've Had My Ass Grabbed By Older, Powerful Men"

The "What Would Diplo Do?" star is the latest celebrity to speak out about sexual assault in Hollywood.

After all of the allegations coming out against Harvey Weinstein this week, James Van Der Beek is now the latest celebrity to speak out about how he is also a victim of sexual assault.

“I’ve had my ass grabbed by older, powerful men, I’ve had them corner me in inappropriate sexual conversations when I was much younger,’ the What Would Diplo Do? star tweeted early Thursday morning.

“I understand the unwarranted shame, powerlessness & inability to blow the whistle. There’s a power dynamic that feels impossible to overcome.”

Van Der Beek's shared his story after he saw that people were calling out the women who were speaking out about the inappropriate interactions they have had with Weinstein in the past.

“For anyone judging the women who stayed silent, read this for perspective. Also for anyone brushing off harassment as ‘boys being boys’…What Weinstein is being accused of is criminal,” he added.

“What he’s admitted to is unacceptable — in any industry. I applaud everybody speaking out."

The former Dawson's Creek star is just the latest male celebrity to tell his tale of being groped by other men in Hollywood.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews also took to Twitter earlier this week saying that the Weinstein scandal was giving him PTSD because a similar thing happened to him.

"My wife n I were at a Hollywood function last year n a high level Hollywood executive came over 2 me and groped my privates," he said in a series of tweets recounting the incident.

Michael Gaston, from The Man in the High Castle and Madam Secretary, joined the conversation this week by revealing he was also groped years ago by a famous theater director.

The Weinstein scandal has shined a light on a problem in Hollywood, proving women are not the only victims of sexual assault. There have been allegations in the past of a well-known gay director being accused of a pattern of sexually assaulting young men, and former child star Corey Feldman spoke out about the open secret of pedophilia in Hollywood last year.
