Earlier this week, 70-year-old actor James Woods mocked an 8-year-old gender-creative boy on Twitter and the Internet was not having it.
The Academy Award-nominated actor shared a photo of a couple with their son at the Orange County Pride Parade in California. Both parents are holding signs, which read: “I love my gender creative son!” and “My son wears dresses & makeup… Get over it!!”
In response to their open support, Woods wrote, “This is sweet. Wait until this poor kid grows up, realizes what you’ve done, and stuffs both of you dismembered into a freezer in the garage.”

The graphic message was met with backlash from social media users, who blasted the actor for his ignorance.
holy cow. i'd boycott all of his currently running tv shows and movies, but… pic.twitter.com/AIMR2rFJX2

When did you dismember your humanity and stuff it in a freezer in the garage?

Please make sure this family feels & hears the love. This is despicable. They should be lauded & their son is beautiful. True parent goals.

Neil Patrick Harris also chimed in with a tweet of his own, writing: “Utterly ignorant and classless, Mr. Woods. I’m friends with this family. You know not of what you speak, and should be ashamed of yourself.”

Lori Duron, the mother of the family, regularly blogs about raising her gender-creative son at Raising My Rainbow. In a post detailing the family’s visit to Pride, Duron reflected on all the love her son C.J. received from other attendees.
“My sweet, fabulous, rainbow boy has never received so many compliments,” she wrote. “He’s used to getting stares and whispers when we’re out in public. He’s not used to getting the smiles, hugs and encouragement he received at Pride.”
This is hardly the first time Woods has shared an aggressively homophobic tweet. This past May, the actor came for Anderson Cooper after he rolled his eyes at Kellyanne Conway, tweeting: “As his butt plug dislodges during a newscast…”
