Janet Jackson Back Where She Belongs, Earns Historic 7th Number 1 Album
Janet Jackson, pop/R&B icon, international sex symbol and one of the best-selling artists in the history of contemporary music, has done it again, slain that is, making history with her 7th number 1 album.
Jackson is only the third act ever to achieve number 1 albums in each of the last four decades behind Madonna, who has 8 and Barbra Stresiand (but of course!) who has 10.
Rather unusually, as noted by Billboard, Jackson has achieved this top honor without a single press interview to help promote "Unbreakable." Though she's currently on her world tour, her only public appearance of late was at June 28th's BET Awards where Jackson accepted the Ultimate Icon Award.
But are we really that surprised here? She's Janet. She'd be number one even if she wasn't "number one." Yet, it sure feels good to see Ms. Jackson back on top of her throne.
