In a video posted to her Facebook page early this morning, Janet Jackson confirmed that she’ll be putting her world tour on hold to start a family.
In late August of last year, Jackson launched her seventh concert tour, jam-packed with old favorites and new tracks off her latest album, Unbreakable.
The first leg went off without a hitch, with fans and critics alike lauding the 49-year-old artist for her triumphant return to the world stage. However, just as the second leg was about to begin, Jackson took to Facebook to say that she would have to delay the rest of her concert dates as she and her husband had decided to start a family.
“I wanted you all to be the first to know,” she begins in the video. “My husband and I are planning our family. So I’m going to have to delay the tour.”
Some have claimed Jackson cut the tour short because of lagging sales, but she asked fans to “try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, Doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”
The “Black Cat” goes on to thank her dancers, back-up singers and crew, saying that she “can’t wait until we can get started again.”
