Janet Jackson reminded us she’s out of seclusion—and here for her gay fans—with a surprise appearance at the Out100 gala last night in New York.
The 51-year-old diva wore a belly-baring leather-and-lace ensemble, topped off with a geometric accessory nestled in her Rapunzel-esque caramel locks.
Jackson, a five-time Grammy winner, was on hand to accept the magazine’s Music Icon award. In her acceptance speech, she quoted her classic hit “Together Again”: “Everywhere I go, Every smile I see, I know you are there, Smilin’ back at me.”
Fans worried Jackson’s marriage to Qatari business magnate Wissam Al Mana—and the birth of her first child, Eissa—would mean she was done with show business.
Last month, Janet reunited with some of her original dancers for a historic live performance of “Rhythm Nation” at the Hollywood Bowl.
