Janet Jackson will be honored at this year’s MTV European Music Awards. The iconic pop star will receive this year’s Global Icon Award at the award ceremony November 4 in Bilbao, Spain. Jackson will also take the stage and sing a medley of her greatest hits, including her most recent smash “Made for Now.”
“Janet is without question one of the world’s biggest stars,” said Bruce Gillmer, global head of music and talent, Viacom and co-brand head, MTV International in a statement. “Her incredible artistry has opened doors for countless others while leaving an indelible impact on pop culture—well over three decades and counting. We’re thrilled to honor her as this year’s MTV Global Icon.”
The EMAs will air live around the globe from Bilbao Exhibition Centre on Sunday, November 4 at 9pm CET, and across MTV’s global network of channels in more than 180 countries and territories, reaching more than half a billion households around the world.
Voting is now open to the public at mtvema.com until November 3 at 11:59pm CET. Camila Cabello leads this year’s nominations with six nods including Best Artist and Best Video for “Havana.” Ariana Grande and Post Malone follow close behind with five nods a piece.
