Jazz Jennings Named Grand Marshal Of NYC Pride Parade

The reality star will be the youngest Grand Marshal in NYC Pride history.

The Grand Marshals for the 47th NYC Pride March were announced on Wednesday, and they include a trans HIV/AIDS activist, a Syrian refugee, and trans teen and reality star Jazz Jennings.

Jennings, who just won Outstanding Reality Series at this month's GLAAD Awards for her show I Am Jazz, is the honorary co-founder of the Transkids Purple Rainbow Foundation.

June will be a big month for the 15-year-old advocate, as she will not only be marching as the youngest Grand Marshal in NYC Pride history, but will also have her memoir, Being Jazz: My Life as a (Transgender) Teen, released on June 7.

Syrian refugee Subhi Nahas, who co-founded the first LGBT magazine in Syria, and HIV/AIDS activist Cecilia Chung, who helped organize the San Francisco Trans March — one of the first and largest trans events in the world — will be joining Jennings as Grand Marshals for the Pride event on June 26.

Jazz tied with Caitlyn Jenner for Outstanding Reality Series earlier this month, and you can watch their GLAAD acceptance speeches below.
