Jennifer Lawrence stopped by The Late Show With David Letterman last night and took some time to address the non-controversy that was her Golden Globe Awards acceptance speech. Can’t this poor girl just make an innocent joke?
Jennifer told Dave that while winging her acceptance speech for Best Actress, she threw in Bette Midler’s infamous line from First Wives Club, “I beat Meryl.” As the young talented actress pointed out, soon after, another young actor, one who is a mess and will never find herself at the Oscars, took serious issue with Jenny’s joke. And you’ll never guess who!
“no1 should ever mess with a legend, such as Meryl Streep,” the always enchanting Lindsay Lohan wrote on Twitter. So odd of Lindsay to get herself involved in a non-issue for attention!
Jennifer seems pretty unaffected by the entire thing, but did tell Dave, “I wanted to make a public statement, like … ’Hey idiots. It’s a quote. From a movie.”
Even when shading her detractors Ms. Lawrence is still the funniest and cutest.
Watch it above.
