Jennifer Lopez Supports Gay Valedictorian Silenced by High School

"Continue to use your voice and spread only love and acceptance."

Jennifer Lopez loves a henny from the block.

The loud and longtime LGBTQ ally took the time this week to meet with gay Wisconsin teen Nat Werth, Sheboygan Press reports.

Werth, 2019 valedictorian at Sheboygan Lutheran High School, made headlines in May when administrators barred him from giving his graduation speech, which addressed challenges he faced as a gay student and biblical passages about homosexuality. The class salutatorian gave a speech instead.

Lopez, who had heard about Werth's story, reached out to the 18-year-old graduate and hung out with him after her Milwaukee concert.

“Jennifer had a chance to tell Nat that she supports him speaking out and she stands behind him,” Today anchor Carson Daly reported Friday. “Werth said that meeting Jennifer Lopez was absolutely an amazing experience he will never forget.”

"Everyone deserves love," the GLAAD Vanguard Award winner tweeted, reposting Today's coverage. "Nat, thank you for celebrating with me... Always standing with you. Continue to use your voice and spread only love and acceptance. Don’t stop being you.”

PrideFest Milwaukee honored Werth last month with its 2019 Valor Award, given to LGBTQ youth who have shown courage in the face of obstacles, and invited him to give his valedictory speech at the annual Pride event.

"I want to use my voice to create change and to speak up for those who can't do it for themselves," Werth told the crowd. "My advice to anyone trapped by their circumstance is to know that there is nothing wrong with you."
